Year5Maths ("we", "us", "our") provides free online maths practice tests for Australian primary school students. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, particularly children.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

• The first name entered before a test is stored only in your browser's memory (JavaScript) for the duration of the session. It is never sent to any server, saved to cookies, or stored in local storage.
• When you close the browser tab or click "Try Again", the name is cleared completely.
• We do not require accounts, email addresses, passwords, or any registration.
• We do not use analytics tools (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels).

2. Children's Privacy

This site is designed for use by children aged 8-11 (Year 3 and Year 5 students) and their parents/teachers. We comply with:

• The Australian Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)
• The Children's Online Privacy Code (2026)
• The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations

Our compliance measures:

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
• No user accounts exist — there is nothing to collect.
• All advertising is contextual only, tagged as child-directed content (see Section 4).
• No interest-based or retargeted advertising is served.
• This platform follows a zero-trace testing model — students can complete tests without providing any identifying information.

3. Google Fonts

We use Google Fonts to load the Fredoka and Nunito typefaces. When you visit our site, your browser requests these font files from Google's servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). This means Google receives your IP address and browser User-Agent string as part of the standard HTTP request. Google states this data is not used for advertising. See Google Fonts Privacy.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We display advertisements through Google AdSense on our landing and hub pages. No ads are shown on the actual test screens where children interact.

• All ad units are tagged with tag_for_child_directed_treatment: 1, which tells Google to disable interest-based advertising and remarketing for these pages.
• Google may use cookies to serve ads. These are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• We do not control which specific ads are shown — Google selects ads appropriate for child-directed content.

5. Cookies

Year5Maths itself does not set any cookies. However, third-party services embedded on our pages (Google AdSense, Google Fonts) may set their own cookies as described in their respective privacy policies.

6. Data Storage

All test data (answers, scores, results) exists only in your browser's memory during the active session. Nothing is saved when you leave the page. There is no database, no server-side storage, and no way for us to access your test results.

7. Third-Party Links

Our site may contain links to external websites (e.g., ACARA, Google). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
